Are you ready for the new school year?

With the end of summer in sight, parents and kids alike know what the dwindling August days mean: School is back! Make sure you and your loved ones have everything you need to smoothly get back into another school year!

Preparing Your Immune System:

It’s no secret that a balanced diet and good sleep will help keep you healthy. During the beginning of the school year, remembering to hydrate, consume plenty of vitamin C and Vitamin D, sleep well, and eat a healthy breakfast every morning. Unlike adults, younger children need 9 to 11 hours of sleep, each night! So make sure that your little ones are turning off their electronics and hitting the hay in time for a restful night’s sleep.

Checking Everything Off Your Back-to-School List:

Besides the holistic care you can do at home, the top item on everyone’s list should be making sure your (and your children’s) immunizations are up to date. Not only do most schools require children’s immunizations to be up to date, but vaccines help children and members of the community stay healthy. Less sick days, means more time spent learning!

Don’t forget about a yearly physicals! Most student athletes will need their yearly physical to return to training, but even non-athletes should have an annual exam! After all, the best way to prevent health issues is with preventative care. This can also give you time to ask your doctor important questions regarding your health.

 Student Athletes:

And speaking of student athletes, those who participate in extracurriculars should be extra vigilant about hydrating. Drinking the right amount of water each day will prevent ailments like heat stroke during drills in the heat, and can help increase your endurance levels!
